Sporting Events and Awards at Macquarie
Each year U@MQ Active gets involved in a wide variety of Sporting Events and Awards. These provide students, staff and the local community with an avenue to test their sporting abilities and compete amongst the best.
Macquarie University recognises the commitment and dedication of our athletes and administrators. Those outstanding performances are recognised at the annual Sport and Blues Awards.
Presented for the first time in 1968, the Sport and Blues Awards recognise excellence across all categories of major sports and are given to students, teams, coaches and volunteers who have excelled or made an outstanding contribution to sport.
The tradition of University Blues stems from an annual rowing competition held between Oxford and Cambridge University. At the end of the regatta the dark blue jersey of the Oxford crews are exchanged for the light blue jersey of the Cambridge crews.
