
Sport Scholarship Applications
Macquarie University through U@MQ offers Sports Scholarships to students either entering or continuing a course at the University in 2009. In 2008, 35 athletes were awarded a Macquarie University Sport Scholarship.
Application Process
- Complete the attached application form in full
- Please ensure that you attach all relevant documentation
- Post application for 2009 scholarship to be received by Macquarie University Sport and Recreation by Friday 28 November 2008
- If you are an elite athlete whose training and competition commitments have affected your HSC preparation please consider also applying for the Elite Athlete and Performers Entry Scheme. Applications are to be lodged directly with Macquarie University.

Our scholarships are awarded on an annual basis according to the following criteria:
- Sporting excellence - student athletes are national or state, open or age, representatives or a member of one of MUSR’s Alliance Partner Clubs
- New Students at Macquarie University: gaining entry to a degree program at Macquarie University
- Continuing Students at Macquarie University: maintaining a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0
NB: Verification of national or state senior or under age squad status will be required before a Scholarship will be provided from the University.
Selection Criteria
As a general rule successful applicants are athletes competing at a national or state (school, age and/or open) championship level who are recognised by the relevant national sporting body as elite or who are a member of a national development squad. It is at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee to award scholarships to applicants.
Category One Criteria:
- National squad member or equivalent (AIS) and/or
- Consistent international representation in open teams and individual sports competition
- Top 5 national open ranking for individual sports in 2008
- Participate in national professional sporting competitions
Category Two Criteria:
- National aged squad member or equivalent (AIS)
- State squad aged or open member or equivalent (NSWIS)
- Top 10 national ranking age or open competition for individual sports in 2008
- Gold medalist at Australian University Games/Championship in 2007
- Finalist at age or open competition
